MANSEHRA: A woman and her newborn baby lost their lives in a private hospital of Mansehra. The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred due to negligence of staff at the hospital.
According to reports in the media, during a protest against the hospital administration, the woman’s brother Ansar Mustafa and the area naib nazim, Muhammad Akhtar told media that the woman was taken to the private hospital for delivery. They added due to the absence of a female doctor at the hospital, the woman was left to the midwives at the hospital. They said that the midwives “experimented” on the woman for 10 hours and administered an injection to her at the wrong time.
According to the brother, the baby died at birth, while the woman’s condition remained critical. He further said that the midwife called an untrained driver to take her to a government hospital in the hospital’s ambulance at midnight. The woman died on the way.
The deceased woman had four children. Her relatives have demanded that a case be registered against the staff of the private hospital.
The hospital administration refused to comment on the matter when contacted by media officials.
