MULTAN: PPP leader Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was playing a responsible role in parliament as it had always raised voice for the rights of people. The PPP was a big political and ideological party, he said while talking to journalists at Fort Qasim Bagh Stadium.
The former prime minister visited the stadium to plan arrangements for March 10 public meeting, which would be addressed by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. To a question about census and delimitation of National Assembly constituencies, he said his party would raise the issue in parliament. He urged the people of southern Punjab to mention “Seraiki” as their mother tongue in census forms. To another question about US President Donald Trump policies against Muslim countries, Gilani said a US court had set aside his decisions.
Islam was a religion of peace and had no link with terrorism, he added.
Gilani said the PPP respects judiciary, constitution and all the institutions. “WE will respect whatever decision is given by court in Panama Leaks case.”
Gilani termed politics a virtuous job. It is like worship. There should be no violence in it. “We condemn attack on Shaukat Basra and demand of government to bring to justice all those involved in this attack,” he stated. Former members of provincial assembly Usman Bhatti and Dr Javed Siddique, Ali Haider Gilani and Rizwan Alam were also present.
