MITHI: Kaloi police on the directives of court raided the farmhouse and recovered 66 peasants working as bonded labour at the agriculture farm of the former MNA Arbab Zakkullah near Kaloi town on Wednesday.
A farmer, Mandhro Kolhi had filed the application in Sindh High Court, Hyderabad bench, few days ago seeking the liberation of his 94 community people including children and women.
The applicant alleged that the people were being forced to work at his agriculture farm for past two years without giving them the due share in the crops.
The former MNA told the local journalists that the allegations of the applicant and others false and fabricated and they staged the drama of the private jail after taking the loan from them. The liberated peasants were produced in the court on Wednesday evening while remaining would be produced upon their recovery.
According to the SHO Kaloi police station Karim Dad Mangrio, during raids they recovered 66 farmer while for the recovery of the remaining persons, police is conducting raids. He revealed that this is first ‘ private jail’ of its nature in the district, which has been busted by Tharparkar police in the recent history of the desert region on the court orders.
