PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami leader and former MNA Abdul Akbar Chitrali claimed on Saturday that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has promised to take pragmatic measure to release 20 suspects who were arrested by police, allegedly planning to kill a mentally-ill man accused of committing blasphemy on April 21.
Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club Jamil Chitrali too shared that a delegation comprised of KP Senior Minister for Local Government Inyat Ullah Khan, Minister Finance Muzafar Said and Abdul Haq hold a meeting with KP Chief Minister at his residence to discuss April 21 incident in detail.
In response he shared, Chief Minister discuss issue with police department to make possible the release of 20 people who allegedly arrested by police under section 324, ATA 6-7.
It has been taken in the notice of Chief Minister by the delegation that poor residents of Chitral were locked in D I Khan jail while later shifted to Chitral jail.
Chief Minister assured them for immediate release of people and on the same time discussed the matter with KP IG Police on phone and directed to take notice of this issue on priority basis and take practical steps in the releasing of innocent people.
Abdul Akbar Chitrali shared that the delegation hoped for positive and result in the issue pertaining to innocent people behind the bar in the case and shown satisfaction over the meeting with CM.
Chief Minister and IG Police should give exemplary punishment to involved person in blasphemy case that in future no one even thing about this kind of act he demanded.
