KARACHI: Investigation of the jailbreak, including the FIR and case files, has been transferred to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Sindh from New Town police station after the allegations of a weak case being established against jail officials and staff which was leveled against SHO and SIO of New Town police station by CTDs officials.
A source from with in CTD has confirmed that all the 15 officials and staff members of prison police were being interrogated by the CTDs teams for reaching on some conclusive evidence to find out about the actual negligence and involvement of the jail staff.
Confirming the news Omer Shahid Hamid SSP of CTD told Daily Times that case and investigations have been transferred to CTD from New Town police station.
According to the source after the meeting with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah the additional inspector general of CTD Sanaullah Abbasi is very keen to reach towards a conclusive stage that CTD officials have obtained further four days remand from the anti-terrorism courts’ administrative judge.
The three central jail staffers are in the custody of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) where they are being interrogated regarding their involvement or negligence that may have helped the two under-trial prisoners escape.
It is pertinent to mention that after the jailbreak on 13th of last month a FIR was registered in New Town police station in which 12 staffers of prison police were initially arrested.
“Officials of CTD are interrogating from those 12 officials of jail police as well as from the three additional accused with which the number of arrested officials and staffers has reached 15, Omer Shahid further informed.
The three more officials of jail staff which have been arrested included assistant superintendent Ayaz Salik, Deputy superintendent Amjad and head clerk Naveed. The suspects are being interrogated by investigation officer, DSP Zahid Hussain of CTD.
After the two members of terrorist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Shaikh Muhammad Imtiaz alias Firoun and Muhammad Ahmed Khan alias Munna, which escaped from the ATC complex located inside the jail premises on June 13 the following officials and staffers were suspended by Prison’s IG Nusrat Mangan ; superintendent Ghulam Murtaza Shaikh, deputy superintendent Faheem Memon, assistant superintendent Abdul Rehman Shaikh, ASI Faroosh Muhammad, police commando Nawab Ali and constables Atta Muhammad, Muhammad Amir, Abdul Ghafoor, Saeed Ahmed, Muhammad Sajjad, Taigal Naseer and Nadir Ali.
