ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Monday said his party had rallied against corruption, free and fair elections and accountability while Nawaz Sharif was coming out on roads to save his corruption.
Slamming ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s GT Road rally, Imran said it was aimed at mounting pressure on the Supreme Court and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), tasked to file references against the Sharif family.
Addressing a press conference at Bani Gala, the PTI chief said, “When we held sit-ins, they said we’re derailing democracy and now I want to tell Nawaz that he is derailing democracy by not accepting Supreme Court verdict. Who is giving you these directions?” he asked. ” Who is conspiring against you now? They’re all raising fingers on Pakistan Army and the Supreme Court.”
The PTI chief said all the institutions have been destroyed by the PML-N in a bid to hide their corruption. “They’re fooling their people by claiming he fell for UAE iqama whereas there are severe allegations of corruption against the Sharif family,” Imran said, demanding that the NAB should file an appeal in the Supreme Court seeking re-opening of the Hudaibiya Mills case against the Sharif family.
Imran accused Nawaz of destroying democracy by hitting the roads and rallying around parts of country to garner public support. “PML-N has a golden opportunity to separate itself from Sharif family,” he said and advised the party to separate itself from the corruption of Sharifs. When asked whether he will hand over his BlackBerry phone to the committee set up to probe Gulalai allegations, he responded that evidence should first be provided by those who have made the accusations.
