Islamabad – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s petition on Tuesday that intended to challenge the proceedings against Dar’s corruption references.
Justice Athar Minallah stated on how the proceedings can be suspended when the indictment has already taken place. He further remarked that the petition filed is now ineffective.
The judge further observed that the petitioner has not attached a copy of the charge-sheet, to which the Dar’s counsel responded that they are yet to be provided with one.
National Accountability Bureau corruption reference filed against Dar claims that the assets Finance Minister owns is clearly disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Dar submitted a petition earlier on Monday which stated that he must be provided with additional time and that the court must suspend his indictment proceedings in the process.
The finance minister had said he requires additional time in order to file his response on the case, the court should order the accountability court to suspend its trial proceedings until a decision on his petition is delivered.
