LARKANA: US Consul General Grace W Shelton visited Bhutto family mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Thursday and paid her respects.
She also visited an old bridge constructed in 1945 over Rice Canal and expressed her interest in irrigation system.
During her visit to Shahnawaz Bhutto railway station, she was accompanied by Member National Assembly Faryal Talpur and Sindh Home Minister Suhail Siyal.
The consul general later attended an event organised at Shahnawaz Bhutto Library in Larkana. Tight security arrangements were made during her visit.
Protest against decaying BHU building: The dilapidated condition of Basic Health Unit (BHU) of Veehar village poses grave danger to the people, said protesters in the village. The demonstrators said that 30 people on average visit the BHU but its decaying condition was in need of dire renovation. The health facility did not even have any boundary walls, making it a common refuge for stray animals at night, said the protesters. The protesters urged Sindh government to reconstruct the building.
Poet struggling for treatment: A renowned folk wisdom teller of Sindh had been suffering with multiple ailments but Sindh Culture Department remained indifferent to the situation.
Muhammad Luqman Khokhar of Dokri Taluka has won over 100 awards and written five books on poetry. Luqman had been suffering with asthma, diabetes and other diseases for a long time now but unable to pay for his treatment due to poverty.
