LAHORE: Former President and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has said his party will not support the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government again.
He was addressing a public gathering in Islamabad parade ground to mark the party’s 50th foundation day.
He said that PPP had saved PML-N government twice, but would not save them again in the future.
Zardari accused PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif of bankrupting the country.
Bilawal addresses rally
PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari vowed that his party would restore the state’s writ.
Addressing the workers at this occasion, Bilawal said that it was the third generation of the PPP which was carrying on the legacy for the sake of democracy.
“I congratulate those who have laid the basis of the PPP and stood against the dictatorship,” he said.
Bilawal said, late Benazir Bhutto always stood against martial law and ended Martial Law Regulation.
Showing his concerns over the recent terror incidents in Pakistan, he said Islam totally rejects the notion of extremism.
“PPP would not let the society move towards extremism,” he asserted.
PPP flexes political muscle
Thousands of workers from all over the country gathered there in the capital to mark the party’s foundation day.
Senior party leaders including PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, PPP Islamabad leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar also addressed the rally.
DJ Butt, known for dominating the music scene at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Islamabad sit-in in 2014, was hired by PPP to mix the beats in today’s rally.
