LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Siraj-ul-Haq took out a rally to express solidarity with Palestinians and protest against United States President Donald Trump’ s recent decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
The “Al-Quds million march” rally was led by the JI chief, which started from University Road and culminated at Hasan Square. The JI chief said that his party wanted to unite ‘Ummah’ as a family.
Thousands of party workers were in attendance. Earlier this month, JI had called for protest against the decision throughout the country.
Siraj-ul-Haq termed the decision as “adding fuel to the fire”. Trump has put global peace in danger, he said.
A fresh wave of bloodshed has erupted across the Middle East. At least four Palestinians were killed while 150 others sustained injuries by Israeli troops.
Clashes are taking place continuously in occupied West Bank.
