ISLAMABAD: The corruption case of the Flagship supplementary reference case is in hearing on Monday at the national accountability court.
As a result of the Panama Papers case verdict in September last year, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed three interim corruption references against the Sharif family, recently filing supplementary references in all three cases.
The corruption references filed, accuse Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment, as well as the offshore companies including the Flagship Investment Ltd. Meanwhile, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar are accused in the Avenfield properties reference.
PML-N’s leaders Tariq Fatemi and Amir Muqam arrived at the Federal Judicial Complex to receive their leader before the hearing. However, Nawaz Sharif requested an exemption from appearance before the court due to his deteriorating health.
The Court exempted the former Prime Minister from the proceedings today, allowing Khawaja Harris to proceed with his cross examination with Abdul Hannan and the two other witnesses who recorded their statements earlier on March 2.
The case proceedings are in process in light of the reference hearings of the Flagship and Al-Azizia cases, in which the witness’s statements were recorded on March 2.
