ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC), while removing the allegations on the petition regarding the privatisation of three important airports of Pakistan, has directed to fix the appeal for hearing.
Shahid Orakzai, resident of Islamabad, approached IHC against the privatisation of three important airports of the Pakistan comprising Jinnah International Airport Karachi, Allama Iqbal International airport and the new Islamabad International airport.
The petitioner, while challenging the process of out sourcing the management of said airports, took a stance in his plea that these three important airports control the 80 percent air traffic of the country. He said that the government did not take approval from the federal cabinet for privatisation and questioned if private owners can run state-owned airports.
It is vital to mention here that registrar office levelled allegation on the petition stating that this is not the concerned forum for this petition, however, Justice Athar Minallah of IHC removed the allegation and directed to fix the petition for hearing.
