ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Ulema Council on Wednesday held Second World Message of Islam Conference at Convention Centre.
The conference praised the Saudi government for addressing issues of Iranian pilgrims in a harmonious way.
The conference condemned terrorism, extremism and sectarian violence and ratified that terrorists have no link to Islam.
Addressing the event, speakers welcomed decision of the government to become part of Saudi-led military alliance and resolved that people of Pakistan are ready to give sacrifices for defence and security of Harmain Sharefain. The participants demanded that the UN and other organisations end dual standards and make an end to prevailing atrocities in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Palestine and Kashmir. The conference also demanded that Iran resolve issues with the Arab world amicably. They also condemned the usage of chemical weapons by Assad regime in Syria.
More than 5,000 clerics from all over Pakistan attended the conference. The conference held in two sittings, the first sitting was headed by Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council while Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Kashmir presided over the second sitting. The participants took oath to defend Harmain Sharefain.
AJK President Masood Khan said that the UN and Western countries have dual standards.
“People of Kashmir are most oppressed people in the world who are facing cruelties in their own homes,” said Khan. He added that India is a shrewd enemy, which is making relations with various Islamic countries on pretext of trade; however the UN should come forward to resolve the Kashmir issue as per UN resolutions.
Sheikh Talal said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are knotted with each other in relations of faith and brotherhood, and Saudi Arabia will play its key role for development of Pakistan.
JUI-F leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed lauded the PUC for arranging the conference. He said that the OIC should play proactive role to resolve confronting challenges of Muslim world. Ilyas Ghumman said, “Our forefathers established Pakistan and we will not hesitate to lay any sacrifice to strengthen Pakistan.”
Azizur Rehman Hazarvi said that it is prestige and honour for Pakistan that Raheel Sharif is being made head of the Saudi-led military alliance.
Meanwhile, the PUC office-bearers said, “Islam is a religion of peace and harmony and some western countries are baselessly making propaganda to associate terrorism and extremism with Islam and Muslims.”
A joint declaration was also presented on conclusion of the conference.
