KARACHI: Provincial Transport Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Wednesday assured a Karachi Circular Railway’s (KCR) Victims Action Committee delegation that the government was considering giving compensation to pre 1999 victims.
The action committee apprised the provincial minister of their problems and concerns during a meeting at his office. The minister informed them that the Sindh government had not displaced anyone with Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto giving special guidelines ensuring this.
The minister convinced the delegation that with the advice of all stakeholders, they would resolve their problems. He said, “Karachi city belongs to all and KCR is also the need of all. The government believes in serving the people without any discrimination.”
The minister told the action committee that if they wanted the entire compensation due to the victims, they needed to cooperate with the government and keep a strict vigil on land grabbers encroaching on the KCR route area. He urged them to inform him of any such activity in order for the government to take action. He said, “We will take stern action against land grabbers. No leniency would be given to land grabbers.”
The committee delegation included Waqar Awan, Shafiur Rehman, Rana Sadiq and Qari Muhammad Ismail Chaudry
