KARACHI: Authorities in Karachi have closed the Mazar-e-Quaid for visitors in view of the prevailing security threats in the country after a bomb ripped through a Sufi shrine in interior Sindh, leaving 88 people dead.
Resident Engineer Muhammad Arif told media, “The mausoleum in Karachi has been closed for two days.” Citizens will not be able to visit the monument for the next two days.
On Thursday, 88 people died when a suicide bomber attacked the crowded Sufi shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan, injuring up to 343 people, according to Hyderabad’s Health Services director general.
The attack in Sehwan came as part of a recent wave of terrorist attacks in the country, and the fifth blast in less than a week.
