MITHI: Tharparkar based NGO in collaboration with Norwegian private investment company, will provide solar energy to three thousand households of Tharparkar.
According to details, Thardeep Rural Development Programme has initiated “Sahao Thar” Programme to provide solar energy in district Tharparkar with collaboration of Norwegian private investment company.
Erik Sour, Chirstan Must and Hakoon Valstad of Norwegian based private investment company signed an agreement with Dr Allah Nawaz Samoon, CEO TRDP to provide solar energy to 3000 households of Tharparkar in fist phase on Friday.
The representatives of the organizations said that program is demand driven and would be scaled up in the other district of Sindh. IFC a member of the World Bank group for private investment is supporting this programme under the title of “Lightening Pakistan” to promote renewable energy in country.
“This is an endeavor to provide affordable and uninterrupted energy supply at household level and over 20 thousand populations will get benefit out of it and will come out of what is termed as “Energy Poverty”. Under this program, each household will be provided with solar energy including LED bulb, Fan, mobile charger and other solar appliance” they added.
They said that Organization Company would take care of maintenance and replace the equipment solar set as when required.
Samoon said they had completed the survey of households and local village organizations formed through social mobilization are managing this program in their respective villages. He claimed far that was the biggest community initiative to light their villages through private investment in the most deprived and remote district Tharparkar.
