ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that work was underway on the modernly-equipped Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute in Lahore.
“The government is implementing a coordinated Hepatitis Control Programme,” he said while chairing a high level meeting on Sunday to review the progress on the project. The meeting decided to form an endowment fund to raise the resources of the institute.
The chief minister said that the first phase of this institute would be completed by end of this year, adding that poor patients would be provided free of cost medical facilities at the institute, which comprises of 470 beds. He said that this institute would also helppromote research work in this field.
The CM promised high quality human resources and state-of-the-art machinery for the institute, adding that a third party audit should also be done regarding the human resources acquired for the institute.
He directed the officers concerned to devise a horticulture plan for the beautification of the institute. The first Hepatitis Filter Clinic has been setup at the site of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute.
