SHIKARPUR: An old tribal dispute in Shikarpur, continuing since last 10 years over the ownership of agricultural land, was ended at Jatoi house on Friday.
The dispute occurred between Sabzoi and Sawand tribesmen, belonging to Kashmore-Kandhkot District.
The jirga to settle the dispute was held under the supervision of Mir Manzoor Khan Panhwar and former MNA Muhammad Ibrahim Jatoi while Azhar Ali Khan Kamario, Dr Ali Nawaz Sawand, Mir Sikandar Khan Kakepoto, Mir Allah Bux Khan Kakepoto, Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani, Mir Chakar Khan Domki, Mir Abdul Nabi Teghani, Amanullah Khan Teghani, Zulfikar Khan Domki, and Karim Dino Jatoi were nominated as musheers by the both rival parties in the jirga.
The dispute resulted in 32 murders and injuries to 20 years over the course of 10 years. As per verdict of the Jirga, Rs34.60 million fine was imposed on both the parties against the compensation of 32 murders and 20 injured persons of both the parties in total.
According to the decision taken by the jirga, the Sabzoi group will have to pay Rs16.90 million to Sawand group against the compensation of 16 murders and eight injured persons, while Sawand group will have to pay Rs17.70 million to Sabzoi group against the compensation of 16 murders and 12 injured persons.
Besides, a five member committee comprising Haji Karim Dino Badani Jatoi, Mir Sikandar Ali Kakepoto, Sardar Allah Bux Khan Kakepoto, Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani, and Dr Ali Nawaz Sawand was formed during the Jirga to settle the dispute of agricultural land going on between the parties up to 25th of February of 2017.
The parties will also have to return to each other the weapons and other valuables taken by force during the clashes. The jirga also decided to impose the fine of Rs2.5 million on the party which would be found involved in violating the decision of the jirga.
