HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Development Authority’s (HDA) Mehran Workers Union staged a protest on Thursday against the non-payment of salaries to Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) staff.
While addressing the protesters, Union leader Mohammed Aslam Abbassi, Haleem Rind and others claimed that the staff had not been paid for last 4 months.
They complained that for many months the Director General HAD post was vacant and the charge was temporarily given to Commissioner Hyderabad division Qazi Shahid Pervez who could not dedicate much time to the HDA due to his responsibilities.
They said that problem of 4 to 6 months delay in payment had continued as a permanent solution to that problem eludes the authorities. They also claimed that not only the regular and contractual staff was not being paid but even the pensioners had not been released their pensions.
