ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office spokesman has clarified that Pakistan did not send any observers for so-called referendum in Nagorno-Karabakh.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, he reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the conflict that it supports Azerbaijan’s position on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Elaborating Pakistan’s position on the issue, he said solution has to be found within the territory of Azerbaijan.
He said this meant complete return of occupied Azeri lands by Armenia, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. He called for withdrawal of Armenian army from Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent districts; and return of IDPs and refugees to their homes.
The spokesman pointed out that Pakistan is member of the OIC Contact Group on Aggression of the Republic of Armenia against the Republic of Azerbaijan.
