Gujranwala: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is not pressuring or challenging any authority or institution. We are only seeking justice. Our struggle is for strengthening democracy in the country.
These views were expressed by Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq at a press conference at Gujranwala on Monday.
He said it was time we put an end to the tradition of ousting elected prime ministers through undemocratic means. “Pakistan is a democratic state and Parliament should be the supreme forum where decisions affecting the country’s destiny should be taken,” he said.
Rafique said PTI chief Imran Khan was playing with the fire. “He is cutting the branch of the tree on which he is sitting himself,” he said.
“The PML-N leadership has been the target of Imran Khan’s derogatory remarks for years but we have never replied to him in the language he uses for us. His immature politics is harming the nation,” he said.
The minister further claimed that those targeting the PML-N were opposed to economic growth in the country. Saad said Nawaz Sharif would leave Islamabad for Lahore on August 9. “The people of
Pakistan will welcome him at every city and village on his way to Lahore,” he said.
Fraud case against 25: The anti-corruption authorities have completed an inquiry into sale of 70-kanal land to PHA on forged documents. A case has been registered against 25 officers and officials found involved in the incident.
The 26-acre disputed land is located at Badoki Gossayan. A court hearing a petition concerning the land has stopped revenue department from engaging in any kind of transaction like sale or transfer of the land. Meanwhile, one Ehsan Ullah Cheema and his collaborators in the revenue department allegedly prepared bogus documents to sell the land to the PHA.
Separately, an anti-corruption establishment team raided a place in Narowal and caught revenue officer receiving a bribe red-handed. The raid was undertaken on a complaint filed by a citizen Shafqat Ali. The complaint held that Muhammad Tariq, a revenue officer, was demanding a bribe for issuing a property deed.
FIA teams have arrested two accused of human trafficking from Gujrat and Narowal areas.
