ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday submitted with the Supreme Court additional documents pertaining to ‘money trial’ of his assets and the offshore company.
The documents containing details of Imran’s assets and bank transactions of Niazi Services Limited (NSL) account were submitted in response to a petition being heard by the apex court contending that Khan had concealed his assets and business concerns in his nomination papers submitted with the ECP in 2013. A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Faisal Arab has conducted dozens of hearings over a petition filed by PML-N leader Hanif Abbassi, seeking disqualification of PTI chairman Imran Khan and Secretary-General Jahangir Tareen for non-disclosure of their assets, ownership of offshore companies and PTI being a foreign-funded party.
The documents stated that Imran Khan remained a member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007 and during this period he did not withdraw any amount from the account of his offshore business concern, which had a balance of 100, 000 pounds. However, when he submitted his nomination papers with the ECP for 2013 general elections, the NSL account was empty, thus it was not mentioned in the nomination papers, the documents stated.
The additional documents submitted through Imran’s lawyer Naeem Bukhari also contain a receipt of 0.562 million pounds paid by Imran Khan to his former spouse Jemima from the account of the NSL.
A few written responses annexed with the documents stated that Imran had mentioned the transfer of money from his account to the account of Jemima, in the financial documents submitted with the ECP in 2003.
It has been stated that NSL’s account clearly showed that the loan taken by Imran from Jemima had been paid back to her. The receipt of the amount by Jemima from an Anglo-Irish bank has also been annexed with the documents.
The documents showed that Jemima had transferred 79,000 pounds to Imran Khan for the design of the Bani Gala residence. The documents show that 79,000 pounds were repaid to Jemima as part of the 0.5m pounds.
The documents also show that a balance of 99,000 pounds lying in the account of NSL was spent on the litigation of London apartment and the account had zero balance.
The record relating to payment of 562,000 pounds made by Imran Khan to Jemima has also been furnished.
Two controversial letters, which have different signatures of the PTI chief have also been submitted.
