ISLAMABAD: Captain (retd) Safdar was arrested by a six-member National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team after he and his wife Maryum Nawaz had arrived at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport late Sunday.
The NAB team waited outside Rawal lounge of the airport because airport authorities did not allow them to enter the passenger lounge.
Safdar was taken into custody a few moments after Maryam Nawaz had left the airport amid slogans of support and cheer’s upon her return to the country by hundreds of workers.
Party workers protested Safdar’s arrest and were reluctant to let the vehicle containing Safdar pass through but cleared its path upon directives of a senior party official present on the spot.
On Sunday, Maryam Nawaz while leaving for Pakistan had talked to media and stated that now the world know’s these cases are not about accountability but are all about revenge and she also said that her brother’s who face three cases in total, will also show up before the accountability court, but she did not mention a date or a timeline.
