LAHORE: Police on Wednesday nabbed Mufti Abdul Qavi after a session court rejected his plea for an extension of his pre-arrest bail in the Qandeel’s murder case.
Multan Cantt SP Dr Fahad said Mufti Qavi was on his way to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa when he was arrested on the highway near Jhang.
Earlier, the sessions court hearing Qandeel Baloch’s murder case had dismissed the cleric’s bail request and ordered police to arrest him for failing to cooperate with the prosecution.
Qavi appeared in the hearing conducted by Sessions Judge Chaudhry Amin and applied for bail through his lawyer.
Qavi had left the court premises prior to the order.
However, the police managed to arrest him after intercepting his vehicle on the highway.
