ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to keep the prices of petroleum products unchanged for May, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Sunday.
“We have decided to keep POL prices unchanged for the month of May,” Dar said while addressing a news conference in Islamabad. “The government will give subsidy to maintain the prices.”
The minister said high-speed diesel and petrol will sell at Rs 84 and Rs 74 respectively, while kerosene oil and light diesel will sell at Rs 44 per litre throughout May, according to Radio Pakistan.
Last month, the government increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1 per litre. The government absorbed the impact of oil prices by making adjustments in taxes following a dip in oil prices in international markets. Following the dip, the government restored heavy taxes, especially on petrol and high-speed diesel.
