ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM’s House on Monday and discussed professional issues pertaining to national security.
The COAS held a separate meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain at the presidency, during which the president expressed confidence that armed forces would continue to attain glory and supremacy under the army chief’s sagacious leadership, professionalism and expertise.
The president said the country’s defence would become further impregnable under the professional acumen of General Qamar Bajwa. He commended the supreme sacrifices rendered by the country’s armed forces in the fight against terrorism and extremism, and noted with satisfaction that Operation Zarb-e-Azb had greatly curbed militancy and extremism in the country.
He said that the National Action Plan would be fully implemented to restore complete peace and normalcy across the country.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa thanked the president for his good wishes and said that the armed forces were fully capable of defending the motherland. He said that the forces would meet the nation’s expectations in safeguarding the country’s frontiers by thwarting enemy’ nefarious designs.
