MULTAN: A Japanese man reportedly committed suicide by jumping off the second floor of a local hotel on Thursday. According to media reports, Japanese engineer, Okumura Katfumi ended his life by jumping off the second floor of a hotel in Multan. The body was shifted to Nishtar hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police officials said that the deceased also left a letter for his family. The Punjab government has ordered the authorities to seal the hotel and launch an investigation. Cantonment Station House Officer (SHO) Rana Zaheer Babar told APP that the police had found a note written in Japanese language, and its cursory translation suggested that the man was suffering from depression. Zaheer said the police were getting the note translated from some Japanese language experts. The engineer was working on a project in Dera Ghazi Khan, about 100 kilometres from Multan. He was staying at a hotel in the city since September 2016, and was scheduled to leave the hotel by February 1, 2017.
