ISLAMABAD: The Panama Leaks case hearing resumed on Tuesday led by a larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa on Tuesday.
Prime minister’s legal counsel Makhdoom Ali Khan continued his arguments in defence of prime minister. He asked the court that Nawaz Sharif be given immunity under Article 248 of the constitution.
Earlier, before the hearing started, a group of lawyers outside the Supreme Court building stopped PTI leaders Shafqat Mehmood, Shireen Mazari and prime minister’s lead counsel Makhdoom Ali Khan from entering the premises. After a lengthy discussion, Makhdoom made it inside the courtroom.
During the last hearing, Makhdoom Ali Khan referred to the past rulings of the Supreme Court and deliberated on the disqualification of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
The bench questioned the prime minister’s speech in the parliament. In his remarks, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan said, “Nawaz Sharif said that he has not misrepresented information but now he is arguing that even if he had misrepresented information, he had immunity.”
