QUETTA: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Saturday visited the Combined Military Hospital to inquire after the health of Senate Deputy Chairman Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senate chairman said parliamentary diplomacy should be promoted for better relations with Iran, Afghanistan and India. He said incidents of terrorism were the result of wrong policies of the past.
“Mastung attack and killing of workers in Gwadar are condemnable incident. For how long would we continue to pickup bodies of our people?” he asked.
He said, “Terrorists cannot defeat our morale and entire nation was untied against them.”
Haideri said, “Such coward acts cannot stop us form serving nation and country. Our morale is much higher than before.”
He thanked Nawaz Sharif, Raza Rabbani, Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri and Southern Command Commander Lt Gen Aamir Riaz.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl protested against attack on Senate Deputy Chairman Abdul Ghafoor Haideri. On the directives of JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman a shutter down call was cancelled. Haideri was injured in a suicide attack on Friday.
Later, the Senate chairman enquired after the health of other injured people at Civil Hospital. He was accompanied by Senator Saifullah Magsi and former Balochistan chief minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch.
Separately, a meeting reviewed security situation at Southern Command Headquarters on Saturday.
Meeting was attended by Southern Command Commander Lt General Aamir Riaz and Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti.
Participants held detailed review of the security situation and confronting challenges and reiterated that through coordinated response sustainable peace would be established. Earlier, they prayed for the people killed in Mastung ad Gwadar.
