ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday reiterated the need for urgent reform process in line with aspirations of the people of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
The COAS was presiding over the 75th Annual Formation Commanders Conference held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, which also deliberated the situation in FATA with reference to recent measures for better Pak-Afghan border management.
The conference, attended by all general officers of the army, was briefed on the geo-strategic environment, the progress of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, operational preparedness against conventional threat and other matters concerning national security, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Gen Qamar Bajwa told the meeting that the budding state of stability achieved after countless sacrifices rendered by the security forces, the law-enforcement agencies and the nation ‘shall be consolidated to have a normalised Pakistan’.
Referring to his recent visits to the front-line field formations along the eastern and western frontiers, Gen Qamar appreciated the high state of operational readiness and the morale of the troops, especially that was displayed in response to recent ceasefire violations.
The COAS said although Pakistan wanted enduring peace with all its neighbouring countries, any hostile action on its borders would be ‘responded to befittingly’.
While focusing on the security situation in Balochistan, the forum reiterated its resolve to continue meaningful contributions towards the stability and progress of the province with support of its people.
