ISLAMABAD: Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Pakistan in its countrywide crack down on drug traffickers conducted 17 operations, recovered 29,000kgs of drugs worth Rs 6.2 billion, arrested 17 traffickers and seized four vehicles.
The seized drugs included 2,734kgs morphine, 213kg hashish, 7.6kg heroin, 1.9kg methamphetamine and 1kg Opium.
ANF Quetta, acting on a tip, conducted an operation in District Chaghi. This masterly executed operation resulted into mega seizure of 2,734kgs morphine. This was the largest single seizure of morphine in the history of ANF.
As per preliminary reports, drug was stocked for handing over to another narcotics gang for smuggling to some unidentified destination.
In another operation, arrested a trafficker Habibur Rehaman resident of Quetta and recovered 10kg hashish from his possession. The accused was arrested near Al-Asif Shandar Hotel, Mastung Road, Quetta.
ANF Lahore arrested a passenger Muhammad Usman resident of Khushab at Allama Iqbal International Airport, while he was boarding for Saudi Arabia by Qatar Airways Flight No QR-629, recovering 1.9kg amphetamine concealed in his bag.
In its second successful operation, ANF Lahore recovered 1.05kg heroin and 2.250kgs hashish from two motorcyclist Muhammad Farzan and Muhammad Ayub residents of Faisalabad.
As per press release, 995 grammes of heroin was recovered by ANF Lahore from a parcel being sent to UK.
In yet another operation, ANF Lahore recovered 1.8kg hashish from possession of Shah Ali resident of Multan at Sher Shah Road, Multan.
In its fifth operation, ANF Lahore arrested a drug peddler, Muhammad Zaman resident of Lahore and recovered 2.4kg hashish from his possession.
In sixth operation, ANF Lahore arrested a local drug supplier identified as Nasar Ullah along with 1kg hashish and 1kg opium from Shadia Chowk, Tehsil Piplan, District Mianwali.
In seventh operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a UK destined parcel at air cargo shed Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and seized 70 grammes of heroin concealed in a ladies’ hand purse.
ANF Rawalpindi arrested two local drug suppliers identified as Raja Muhammad Hussain Haider and Muhammad Jameel Mirza both residents of Jhelum at Dina and recovered 1.13kg hashish from their possession.
In a separate operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 500 grammes of hashish from possession of a motorcyclist Muhammad Siddique, arresting him near Jhala Khan Chowk, Attock.
In addition, ANF Rawalpindi in a raid near Jada Chowk, GT Road, Jhelum arrested a local drug seller, Zaheer resident of Jhelum along with 500 grammes of hashish.
ANF Peshawar on pursuance of an intelligence report intercepted a truck at Indus Highway, Kohat and recovered 150kg of hashish concealed in hidden cavities.
Two persons on board identified as Atta Ullah and Noor Ali Shah residents of North Waziristan were taken into custody.
ANF Karachi seized a parcel being sent to UK through a courier service company based at Karachi, recovering 5.5kg heroin, concealed inside Ink markers.
The parcel was booked from Islamabad. ANF Karachi in a joint operation with Pakistan Rangers Sindh seized 15kg of hashish from possession of two local drug peddlers; Obaid Ullah and Azhar Baloch residents of Karachi, who were arrested near Murtaza Chorangi, Karachi.
In yet in another operation, ANF Karachi in collaboration with Pakistan Rangers Sindh raided a place at Mohallah Siraj Colony, Nazimabad, Karachi and seized 28kg of hashish, arresting two drug suppliers identified as Muhammad Subhan and Ayub Masih both residents of Karachi.
Cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations under CNS Act, 1997 and further investigations are underway.
