LAHORE: Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Mashhood has called for using e-learning technologies in classrooms to raise the standard of education.
Addressing a delegation of educationists here on Monday, the minister said that the government was utilising all available resources improve quality of education. He said e-learning equipment such as tablets and multimedia classrooms were being provided to public sector schools under the E-learning Programme of the Punjab government.
Mashhood added that role of technology was being increased in education sector with every passing day. “We just need to increase ability of students by positive educational activities so they can serve the country,” he said, adding that tablets and smart boards were being provided to more than 2,000 government schools.
He said that appointment of teachers on merit, increase in the number of schools and colleges, establishment of science and computer laboratories, provision of laptops to teachers and students, foreign tours for students were some of the steps the Punjab government had taken to improve the quality of education.
“Our youth is talented and have a bright future ahead if teachers teach them honestly and polish their hidden abilities,” he said, adding: “If the government is providing all resources for children to provide them quality education, then teachers must also give their best.”
