LAHORE: The woman who burnt her young daughter alive for marrying against the family’s consent was given capital punishment by the courts on Monday for her heinous crime.
Zeenat Rafiq, a 20 year old woman who had married a motorcycle mechanic against her family’s wishes, was burnt alive by her mother last year for her actions.
The Anti Terrorism Court, who had heard the case, gave its decision on Monday, imposing the death penalty on the mother Nasreen. Zeenat’s brother Anees, who was an accomplice in her murder, was sentenced to life imprisonment.
